In my work I am often trying to interpret my dark romanticisms of diaspora. These haunting inner-directed images suggest an air of bewilderment, detachment, and expulsion, conveying a sense of exile into the melancholy of ennui and longing. Indeed I find beauty and hope in those sensibilities. If there were no darkness, we would not be able to see the light.
Creatures Of Darkness is a series of photographs depicting domesticated animals confined in rural barns, where they are usually isolated overnight. The animals resemble characters from dark fairy tales for children, with whom I identified as a young reader. I loved the familiar protagonists who, in spite of being cast away and shunned, are inherently on a didactic journey to self-discovery and substantiality.
I find transcendence in metaphors, in fragments, in poetry. The transfigurations and echoes of reality I create in my work keep wonder pure.
